Highway Hotties

This truck has turned into some sort of bizarro-world truck. Nothing is as it should be. Stace is all interested in the politics and I can’t seem to work up any steam for it at all. Haven’t felt it for a long time. Which means of course that I have been falling down on my job:

Stace: What’s Obama stand for anyway?

Me: I don’t know… except change, but they always stand for change, don’t they?

Stace: Who’s ahead in the polls right now?

Me: I don’t know.

Stace: (later out of the blue): Did they ever pass that federal Defense of Marriage bill or whatever Bush was calling it?

Me: I don’t know.

I guess since none of you know me this won’t be as shocking to you as it is to us. I mean I have always been the political junkie. The news junkie. I can’t help myself. I get wrapped up in it. Even when all we had to support was John Kerry… I was there. Not exactly with bells on but I was involved. I also knew most of the important state races and the important ballot initiatives.

Me and the politics go way back — I remember in 1976 I was 11 years old and didn’t talk to my mother (whom I adored) for a week because she kept joking that she wasn’t going to vote for Carter. I found out later that she did in fact vote for Carter which renewed my faith in her considerably. I supported Regan the first time even though I was too young to vote. I cheered for Geraldine Ferraro. I cringed with everybody else when Dukakis wore that stupid helmet.

This year I just don’t seem to care. I was really pulling for Hillary but after the Democratic big-shots pulled that stupid crap and gave the nomination to Obama… well I don’t know. I mean I’ll vote of course. Personally, I feel like if you can’t be bothered to drag your ridiculously lazy ass to the polls one damn day every four years you have no right to comment on the state of this country. Ever. Didn’t vote? Then zip it.

So I’ll vote. But McCain is like 138 years old and can’t decide if he thinks we should “stay the course” or “change things up.” And his first big decision as the Republican nominee was to choose some crazy woman for VP that he doesn’t even feel is qualified to speak to the press by herself. And I’m supposed to think its ok her being a 243-year-old’s heartbeat away from the presidency? I guess I’ll be voting for Obama, thanks.

Whatever. Who cares? I miss Hillary.

Me, my buddies, and everyone (or so it seems) up here were rooting for Hilary (who at least knows a thing or two) and when the Dems pulled that shit? Obama? Are you serious? I mean, the man knows less than I do about American politics, and that’s saying something.

But yeah, I feel for you, between Mister Chip and the Dominatrix, Obama seems safe, but…is he?

My niece in the UK was saying they were talking over there about America’s death knell! It all doesn’t bode well at the moment, for anyone.

I know what you mean. I was very pro-Hillary and still question why she wasn’t the nominee. But that ship has sailed.

When Kerry was defeated by Shrub I think that just demoralized a lot of people. It did that to me. It was just unbelieveable to see people vote against their own best interests.

    Amen to both of ya.

I miss Hillary too! I always thought that secretly she might have a foot in the pool of lesbianism, and I loved that. She’s all uptight, like a sexy secretary. Palin fits the bill for the sexy secretary part…but unfortunately, her views are scary.

    Great post.

Yes, I kinda miss Hil myself. But I totally LOVE Obama, so I’m okay with that.

As for Palin – are you REALLY telling me that you’re not interested in getting her autograph? C’mon now! They are linin’ up for a headshot with a John Hancock on it!

Nothing wrong with a little scary when you’re talking sexy secretary but I agree that Palin is Scary with a capital S. Thanks, anyway Ms. Palin.

I always thought Hillary might be in the family, too. At least a second cousin twice removed or something. But much like when I first saw Jennifer Tilley in “Bound” that may just be wishful thinking on my part.

And before I catch any crap on that front… Jennifer is my celebrity girl-friend. Well her character from “Bound” is at any rate. :)
