Welcome to 2009

2009 January 1

Since we’ve been doing the truck tour, I have to take a moment at the top of this post and say GO SEE Salena and Eddie’s soon-to-be new truck!! Seriously you DO NOT want to miss this… I’ll wait so take all the time you want to ohh and ahhh. When I first saw it my immediate thought was  –  and I’m quoting Fernando’s reaction exactly  —  ”I would give George W, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity each a blow-job on 60 minutes for that truck.” Of course that sparked off a two hour internal angsty debate as to whether I really would or not. I never could decide in the end… but it sure would be tempting. I mean did you see that truck?!

Now before you get all jealous and start envying your neighbor let me just say that Salena and Eddie have been driving for years in a truck with a 48 inch sleeper! Do you have any idea how tiny that is? Well to put it into perspective our sleeper is a big old 70 incher and some days it just feels tiny. You might think it’s only 22 inches but let me tell you that can make all the difference in the world. So even if they weren’t all-around great people they would still deserve it! This is just tooo cool! Can’t wait for pictures after they are moved into it.

Anyway on to the post, I thought I would post some pictures I took earlier today since it seems to be our recent life in a nutshell… Hope this trend doesn’t continue into the New Year. And speaking of the New Year, Stace and I hope each of you has a wonderful one. We hope you have a year in which all your wildest dreams come true. So then you have to come up with wilder dreams. And then those dreams come true, too. Oh great… now you have to come up with even wilder dreams, but to be honest you’re starting to get put out with all that having to come up with new dreams all the time. So you start to think maybe having your every dream fulfilled isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Then you start setting the bar real low like hoping that you get dressed tomorrow morning. That will teach those dream-fulfilling forces who’s boss.

But mostly in 2009 we hope you laugh. We hope we laugh. Can never get too much laughter in the world.

Now on to our day in pictures:

Just another day in Paradise

Just another day in Paradise

Ok... it was actually kind of pretty

Ok... it was actually kind of pretty

But seriously lonely and bleak looking

But seriously lonely and bleak looking

Oh cool a snow-covered mountain pass...

Oh cool a snow-covered mountain pass...

That's not at all dangerous, right?

That's not at all dangerous, right?

And why the hell are all the salt-shakers always on the other side of the road?

And why the hell are all the salt-shakers always on the other side of the road?

"Hey guys these roads don't look too good. How about we shut it down and ring in the new year by playing in the cold white stuff? Can we? Huh? Please?"

"Hey guys these roads don't look too good. How about we shut it down and ring in the new year by playing in the cold white stuff? Can we? Huh? Please? I'll wear my stupid orange shirt thing and won't even bite at it."

    Hey!

Happy New Year from sunny Arizona!!

I’m really not trying to bust your chops too much cause I’d trade in a HEARTBEAT to be in the snow you’re in. I think I’m a little crazy that way – I seem to be the only person I know who likes cold weather and snow. Except my mother’s friend Elke – but she was born and raised in Bavaria, Germany, and we all know how much snow they get there!

Thanks for the link on the truck. We’re very excited, but like I said, I don’t want to get too worked up until I’m in it and driving. I can’t even decide on what I want to do first in it.

I’m sure I know what Ed wants to do, but my thoughts are running more along the lines of sticking my head in all the cabinets to get an up-close look at all the space! And then I’ll sit at the little table, take a snack out of the fridge, make myself a cup of tea that costs less than $1.29 for 20 oz. and just look at everything in awe!

I am SO with you on the laughter for the new year. I MUST laugh more. It’s absolutely the best medicine. Corny, but true.

Wishing you both (and Maggie) the best in the New Year….wild dreams and all!

I tell you, you guys sure are brave! Even though I grew up in Illinois I HATE driving in the snow. Scares the daylights outta me lol. I was pretty happy that I moved to Vancouver due to the milder winters…although with the almost 3 feet of snow we’ve gotten this year you’d never know it!

Sure were pretty pictures though! And wow that is one beautiful truck that Salena & Eddie are getting. Awesome!

Happy New Year to all three of you!! Hope you all have a wonderful 2009!

That’s like sticking an RV on a rig! They could live in that thing! I can totally understand a little green around the edge of your auras on this one…

Love the snowy pictures. I’d love to see some snow (though those snowy mountain passes with steep grades have got to be really scary!) as it’s been about 20 years since I last saw some.

I agree – more laughter, less worry. That’s a good resolution for this next year. We could all certainly use it.

I’m with Maggie – looks like fun driving. That is a great picture. Winter driving conditions; I never minded driving through it so much because I always poked along while the more macho drivers (probably cussing the whole way) screamed around me. But then I never had any incidents.

Man, Salena, that truck is amazing. How much Diet Coke do you think it will hold? I love it and I want to see it! As I know you do! Whew it is just gorgeous.

That truck for Selena and Eddie looks great! I can’t believe that they can put all that in a truck. Awesome! I hope you took Maggie’s advice and had a safe New Years playing in the white stuff.
