Our skeezy motel
This motel we’re staying in is like the cheapest motel in the world. We rented it for the whole week so at that extra special weekly trucker rate it comes out to just under $28 per night for two adults and a dog.

Uninvited motel guest
But they did have a lot of weird charges. For example we had to pay quite a few different deposits when we checked in:
$5 remote control deposit
$5 ashtray deposit
$25 dog deposit
$20 linens deposit
$14 unfluffy pillow deposit
$10 excessive television channels deposit
$15 streaky mirror surface deposit
$12 weird frig smells deposit
$20 environmental light bulbs deposit
$15 clean toilet seat deposit
$20 faucet knobs deposit
$10 A/C filter deposit
And I’m pretty sure they’re going to charge us $25 for the Unregistered Guest we found in the corner of the room this evening. Oh I grabbed it immediately and escorted it right outside but we’re still probably going to get nailed at checkout time. Sigh. Might as well streak up the mirrors and put stinky things in the frig.

They might try and charge you for a hide-a-bed for that monstrosity if you’re not careful . . .
Yeah I’m watching out for that. Also, I hope they weren’t counting the cricket as part of the Free Continental Snack they advertised. I mean what the hell is a continental snack anyway?
OK….I think I’m going to just about die. I hate bugs of any kind and I can’t believe you got this close without fearing that it would jump on you. And you touched it? To take it outside? I’m a wuss in that respect….I would never actually TOUCH it, but I would have no problem crushing it to death with my shoe. I’m not too wussy for a good bug crushing.
Well luckily it was only a cricket so it got relocated outside. If it had been a roach it would have unfortunately received a death-sentence. I can’t stand roaches.
Hubby & I stayed a week at a Ramada Limited in Midlothian TX back during a huge drought in August 1998. They had a horrible cricket infestation. Little buggers were coming in under the 1″ gap at the bottom of door-probably looking for moisture. We started out rounding them up and putting them outside. By, the end of the week we were squishing and flushing. We’d put newspapers & towels in the gap when we were in the room. Nothing we could do about the ones who got in when we were out.
Yeah if there had been a lot of them I might have started squishing, too. I’m pretty mellow on the bug front and usually happy to just take them outside, but I’m not spending every damned waking moment hauling bugs back outside.
So did ya get charged? …. : D
Nah… it was a close one but we slipped it by them.
